A Seattle native, Kristin has played the piano for more than 25 years and also plays guitar, ukulele, and various percussion instruments. She is happily married to another musician and performer, Jonny Akamu, and they just welcomed their first child, Makoa, to their family. Kristin and Jonny love traveling (especially to Hawaii!), hiking, surfing, and kayaking. They can often be found at Greenlake, playing music together and spending time with friends and family.
Kristin is a board-certified music therapist with two Bachelors of Arts degrees in music, one of which is a B.A. in Music Therapy with an emphasis in Psychology. Kristin has worked with a variety of populations, including trauma populations and survivors of human trafficking, older adults, children and adults with intellectual disabilities and on the Autism spectrum, and homeless and at risk populations. Kristin loves music and enjoys sharing it with people. She believes music has the power to bring people together, to draw them in, and express themselves in a new way.
